We
make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
-
Winston Churchill
As
a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on government and foundation
funding, as well as public support to run our programs and continue
with our steadfast commitment to strengthening individuals and their
families in our community.
Why
do we do this? It's simple really. According to the Brookings Institution's
report, Miami in Focus: A Profile from Census 2000, Miami's residents
face unique economic challenges, compared to other cities:
- They
possess low education levels.
- They are often absent from the labor force.
- They must provide for relatively large households.
City
residents further deal with a rapidly decentralizing regional economy,
in which the gap between inner-city workers and jobs is widening.
As the economic strength of the urban core dissipates, too many
Miami families make do with low incomes and struggle to pay for
housing and the necessities of life.
This
is why we do it and we wouldn't be able to do it without the funding
of local and federal grants from long time supporters, like the
Miami-Dade Office of Economic Development, the City Of Miami, the
Small Business Administration, and the United States Department
of Health and Human Services.
However,
we also need your help! We cannot continue to accomplish our goals
without your contributions and support. All donations are allocated
amongst the needs of our residents, communities, initiatives and
business expenses, which enable us to continue providing the much
needed services to our local communities.
Please
consider donating to our organization today, thereby helping to
positively impact the lives of South Florida's residents.
